Upcoming Events
Final Exams for 7th and 8th grade: Friday, May 15, 2026 - Tuesday, May 19, 2026:
- Exams will take place each day from 8:05 AM - 9:35 AM and 12:50 PM - 2:20 PM
- Friday, May 15, 2026: 3rd period and 6th period
- Monday, May 18, 2026: 4th period and 5th period
- Tuesday, May 19, 2026: 1st period and 2nd period
8th Grade Promotion
The 8th grade promotion is scheduled for May 20, 2026, at 10:00am (doors open at 9:15am) in the Sunset Middle Gymnasium. Students will arrive to school as normal and enjoy a breakfast celebration prior to the ceremony.
Due to seating limitations, we kindly ask families to RSVP by May 15, 2026. Each student may invite up to four guests, including parents or guardians. The form also allows families to indicate whether their student will be leaving with them after the ceremony.
Staff members will be stationed outside the gym to greet and check you in. Please be sure that all guests have a photo ID ready upon arrival.
Parking at SMS is limited, so we encourage families to carpool when possible. The bus lane will be available for drop-off only and should not be used for parking.
We look forward to celebrating this special milestone with you and your student. Thank you for being part of our Sunset community. We can’t wait to see you there!

Band Wins Big!
Sunset had 125 students participate in the Middle Tennessee Solo and Ensemble Festival at Freedom and Stewarts Creek over the past two weekends. Out of the 125, 98 students received the highest rating of SUPERIOR while the remaining 27 received the second highest rating of EXCELLENT!
Due to their SUPERIOR ratings at solo festival and their SUPERIOR ratings at Concert Performance Assessment, the Sunset Band has been awarded the Tennessee Bandmasters Association Sweepstakes Award! This is a very high honor for ours students and for Sunset Middle School!
If you are able, come out and hear our award winning band perform their Spring "Pops" Concert on Monday, May 11, 2026 at 6:00PM in the Sunset Gymnasium.
Sunset Middle Does it Again!
We are thrilled to share that Sunset Middle School has officially been named a Reward School
for the 2024–2025 school year! This designation recognizes some of the highest-performing
schools in Tennessee. When selecting Reward Schools, the state considers multiple factors, including achievement, growth, chronic absenteeism rates, English language proficiency, graduation rates, and Ready Graduate rates.
This honor reflects the hard work and dedication of our students, teachers, staff, and families. Thank you for partnering with us to make Sunset Middle such an incredible place to learn and grow!
Other Important School Year Information

- Attendance: Please know we value providing ongoing quality academic support. Therefore, if your student has an extended absence, we encourage promptly contacting classroom teachers. Teachers will provide instructional materials, zoom access, or Schoology information as pertinent to that instruction. Also, you are always welcome to contact Beth Stubblefield for attendance questions and/or Nurse Terri Rappe' should you have specific medical questions.
- Tardies: Once a student has five (5) tardies, they will be assigned to Friday Opportunity School. For every tardy students accrue after that, they will be assigned to Friday Opportunity School.
- Students should come to school each day with a charged Chromebook.
- Yearbooks: Order early for the best price!
- GoFan App for Home Games: Saber Fans! Please sign up for the GO FAN app on your smartphone. Search for Sunset Middle School. This covers your home admittance ONLY for every sporting event at Sunset Middle School. Sign Up Today! After the app is downloaded and the family pass has been purchased, give the email address and password to each family member that will be redeeming the tickets. Input the email and password into their phone. Each person will be able to check in separately thru the app if arriving at the event at different times.
- Paying School/Athletic Fees: Need to pay any class fees? Sports Fees? Buy PE uniforms? Use our SchoolCashOnline payment system.

Students from several Williamson County schools proudly represented the district at the 2026 Tennessee State Science Olympiad on April 18.

WCS student athletes blew away the competition at this year's Tennessee Middle School Athletic Association (TMSAA) cross country championship by winning two team titles and two individual titles.
