A Message from Our Principal

The new school year is upon us, and I couldn’t be more excited! I count it as the highest honor to be joining the Sunset family to work alongside such a dedicated staff, such talented students, and such supportive families.
Middle school is such a pivotal time in a student’s life and not just academically. These years are full of growth in independence, in problem-solving, and in the development of self-awareness and confidence. What a privilege to walk alongside students during these important years and to help shape an environment where they are challenged, supported, and celebrated for who they are and who they are becoming.
I believe that all students can achieve great things and commit, alongside this tremendous team, to ensure high levels of growth for all students. I will work tirelessly to help remove barriers, build relationships, and provide opportunities for success across all areas of school life.
I believe in the power of strong communication and meaningful partnerships with families. Together, we can create a school community where every student feels safe, valued, and equipped to meet the challenges ahead. I invite you to stay connected, ask questions, and reach out whenever you need support or guidance.

Vision of SMS:
We envision Sunset Middle School to be a place where everyone is actively engaged in the educational process. Lifelong learning is an expectation; learners are motivated to think critically, creatively, collaboratively, and independently while refining skills in the transfer of knowledge and understanding to new contexts, situations, and challenges. Sunset Middle recognizes the uniqueness of the middle school student and the importance of a successful transition period between elementary school and high school.
