Principal's Message

As we embark on this new school year, I would like to share with you my excitement as we continue this academic journey together! It is an honor to join the Sunset team, and I am thrilled with the opportunity to serve this community. I possess over twenty years of instructional experience across all grade bands while serving as a classroom teacher, instructional coach, middle school administrator, and high school administrator.  Therefore, I know the value of clarity of focus on our goals and objectives, quality collaboration, and consistent communication for a successful learning environment. The middle school journey is pivotal in nurturing secondary pathways of excellence for all students. It remains my core goal to help students make rich transitions that ultimately help pave the way for secondary success and career readiness. I strive to facilitate instructional techniques that promote academic success for all students. With this as our anchor, I would like to share with you the mission of WCS and the vision of Sunset.  

Mission of WCS: 
We exist to provide all students with a quality education that supports their intellectual, physical, emotional, and social development.

Vision of SMS:
We envision Sunset Middle School to be a place where everyone is actively engaged in the educational process. Lifelong learning is an expectation; learners are motivated to think critically, creatively, collaboratively, and independently while refining skills in the transfer of knowledge and understanding to new contexts, situations, and challenges. Sunset Middle recognizes the uniqueness of the middle school student and the importance of a successful transition period between elementary school and high school.
