Art Club is for students who are interested in continuing their exploration of art without bounds. Students who are involved in the club will be provided opportunities to freely experiment with materials, participate in art contests, learn new forms of art-making, and assist other school programs. Consider joining to express yourself and strengthen your creative skill sets.
Meetings are held each Tuesday from 3:00pm to 4:00pm.

Battle of the Books is for students who enjoy reading and discussing books. Students are given a list of books to read in the early fall. They have until December to read the books from the list. Anyone who wishes to be considered for the team needs to take a preliminary test in December.

National Junior Beta Club:  National Beta is the largest independent, non-profit, educational youth organization in America and prepares today’s students to be tomorrow’s leaders. The organization recognizes high academic achievement, promotes character and social responsibility, encourages service involvement to school and community, fosters leadership skills, and provides settings for your child to develop interpersonal relationship skills.  Current 7th and 8th grade students are invited to join the Beta Club if they have an 87 or above average in all classes and display character and leadership skills.  After the induction ceremony in the fall, we will meet once a month after school.

SMS Kindness Club meets after school once or twice a month in room 232 for one hour, and the pick-up time is 4:00 pm. Mr. Kuhl is beginning his second year as a 6th Grade ELA teacher at Sunset Middle School. He is also the head wrestling coach and assistant cross-country coach. Math Club is an after-school enrichment program designed to provide students with opportunities to further explore their love for math. Students will learn more about the amazing field of mathematics and prepare for and participate in math competitions. Model United Nations is open to all students. The Model United Nations conference is on November 18th. Student country delegations will meet on Mondays after school and in groups outside of school independently.

Science Olympiad is a competitive science team that competes at TSU in 20+ events against other teams for a bid to go to the state competition. This club is filled with challenging and exciting events for students to enjoy and learn about science.

As a member of the SMS Student Council, students are expected to exemplify our tenets of respect, responsibility, and best effort. Students must be willing to fulfill the following requirements: attend monthly meetings, be available to attend and serve at all Student Council events, and maintain a B average or above in all classes. We are looking for mature, dedicated students representing a variety of personalities, interests, and friend groups to lead their class. Elections are held in August. Students will be selected based on student vote as well as teacher input and application completion.
