School Counseling at SMS
The mission of the Sunset Middle School counselors is to serve as student advocates, providing a comprehensive school counseling program that facilitates the academic, social, emotional, and career development of all students in an educational environment. The school counselors will work with internal and external stakeholders through consultation and collaboration to support student success.
Counseling Services
The Sunset Middle School Counseling Department maintains a comprehensive school counseling program to meet the developmental needs of students in grades six through eight.
The school counselors promote academic, social, and emotional growth among the students at Sunset Middle School through the services they provide. They support students through individual counseling, small groups, classroom lessons (covering topics like academic skills, social and emotional skills, and college and career skills), crisis response, and consultation and collaboration with parents and school personnel.
The counselors also coordinate programs and events such as orientation for new students, career fair, PSAT 8/9, high school registration, student ambassadors, and student of the month.
